Born into a musical family, Tony Clark began to study music at the age of
seven, learning classical guitar. He spent his childhood in Seattle, where
he soon came into contact with Japanese culture. Later he studied the shakuhachi
of the Kinko school, first with Dale Olsen Bai-o at Florida State University
and later with the internationally renowned master Yoshikazu Iwamoto. Besides
playing shakuhachi in concert and on miscellaneous CDs (traditional and pop
music), he also performs as singer and guitarist in his own band. His most
recent project, Achala, combines diverse Asian influences and pop.
