Takahashi Yuji studied composition with Shibata Minao and Ogura Roh and Iannis
Xenakis. In 1970s, he edited "tranSonic", a quarterly magazine for new music.
In 1980s he organized the Suigyu (Water Buffalo) Band to perform Asian protest
songs. He collaborates with poet Fujii Sadakazu, painter Tomiyama Taeko, shamisen
player Takada Kazuko, Indonesian dancer-choreographer Sardono W. Kusumo, Thai
Kaaraawaan Band of Songs for Life.
