Simeon Pironkoff is a composer who has created a body of very dense and challenging
music. His scores invoke the principle of ultra-virtuosity, yet it is a virtuosity
which at first listening may seem accidental.
Only when we realise that his fresh approach to sound is something that can
be repeated performance after performance do we understand how challenging
this music is for the players. Also delightful in Pironkoff is his play with
deconstructed "Gebrauchsmusik" and his oscillation between abstract
and pulsating rhythm.
