Ming Wang was born in Taipei, Taiwan. From 1977 to 1982 she earned a degree in painting at Taiwan Polytechnic, after which she studied Chinese music, zheng, and pipa at the Chinese Culture University in Taipei (1982-6). Since 1989 Ming Wang has lived in Vienna, where she studied composition with Dieter Kaufmann and took a course in electro-acoustics from Tamas Ungvary. Her instrumental and electronic compositions have been performed in Austria, Germany, Poland, Holland, the United States, France, Taiwan, and elsewhere. Her orchestral piece Wolken ("Clouds") was given its première by the Vienna RSO during the 1998 Styrian Autumn Festival.
